Mixed Reality Procedural Skills Training

Develop procedural competence through mixed reality-guided vascular access training that blends digital instruction with real-world equipment.

 

Learners practice using physical ultrasound devices, task trainers, and procedural supplies while receiving visual guidance through mixed reality helping strengthen hand-eye coordination, technical precision, and procedural confidence before advancing to cadaver lab training or live patient care.

    • VR headset provided at The Centre

    • Recommended: Meta Quest 3S or 3

    • Physical task trainers/phantoms

    • Approximately 25 minutes per session

    • Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral IV (UGPIV)

    • PICC insertion and management

    • Midline insertion and management

    • Femoral Inserted Central Catheter (FICC)

    • Additional vascular access education modules based on course selection

  • Event-based access, complementary to Cadaver Lab

    • Combines physical task trainers with digital overlays

    • Real-time procedural guidance

    • Psychomotor skill development

    • Bridges simulation and real-world procedural performance

  • Best utilized after completing respective CLINSPEC LMS courses, VIVA didactic preparation,  AI communication training, and immersive VR simulation (for PICC/midline only). 


    This learning activity is completed in conjunction with cadaver lab training at the H.I.S. Centre, Bulverde, TX.
